The City Clerk is responsible for procedures that support the policy direction of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. The City Clerk oversees the City’s vital records, serves as secretary to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, maintains the computer accounting system and enters all city money transactions, receipts, and disbursements, including event monies. The position safely keeps, and invests all city monies, reconciles all fund accounts in each checking account, processes payroll, and accounts payables, and related tax reports. The Clerk prepares and submits various government reports, reconciles and prepares audit reports and communicates with the auditor and submits City contracts and will be or become a notary public.

Required Experience: Strong customer service aptitude, developed organizational and communication skills along with knowledge of applicable state laws.
Other position requirements and desired qualifications include:
o At least three years of increasingly responsible public sector administrative experience;
o At least one year working in a City Clerk/Administrative Offices is desired;
o Possession of, or in the process of achieving certification as a MRCC or MPCC.
o The ability to interact effectively with elected officials, community members, local leaders, City staff and community stakeholders;
o The skill to maintain a calm, fair and impartial demeanor in all matters;
o The skill to apply contemporary, technological solutions to managing documents and workflow;

The salary range is under review but is anticipated to be $40,000-$50,000. Additional consideration however will be given to the right candidate, DOQ. An excellent benefits package is also offered.
